More than 3000 South Sudanese displaced people from Northern Bahr el Ghazal in Nyala town of Sudan’ South Darfur state are in need of aid, a civil society leader said.

Nahlah al-Khazrougi, director of future organization for enlistment and development, told Radio Tamazuj that more than 3000 people who fled from Northern Bahr el Ghazal over the last three weeks are now at Center Zero between Kalma and Belel locality.

“Some organization has made assessment and no assistance was provided to them,” Nahlah said.

She said the displaced people are in dire humanitarian condition amid lack of assistance from relief agencies.

An estimated 55,400 South Sudanese have arrived in Sudan’s East and South Darfur, as well as West Kordofan states since January, according to the UN’s office for coordination of humanitarian affairs.

Food insecurity relating to conflict in South Sudan, as well as a poor agricultural season and high cereal prices are believed to be the main drivers.
