Over 300 firearms collected from Gogrial citizens

Local authorities in South Sudan's Gogrial State have collected over 300 firearms from local residents in three counties from November until this month.

Santino Akot, deputy governor of the proposed Gogrial State, told Radio Tamazuj they managed to collect more than 300 firearms from citizens, saying the disarmament process is still continuing in the state.

He said yesterday. “We have collected 300 firearms from three counties so far, and tomorrow we will collect from other three counties. We have collected many heavy machine guns such as PKM and RPG, but these are not all the guns,” said Akot.

The local official warned against the proliferation of arms in the hands of civilians, while calling on the citizens to accelerate the collection of guns for the sake of peace and stability in the area.
