Over 200 internally displaced persons (IDPs) households in Tore County of Yei River State are in dire need of humanitarian assistance, a local official disclosed.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, the county commissioner, Martin Mullia said the internally displaced persons, mostly women and children, are living in desperate humanitarian conditions.

“As of now, 270 households in Angabi payam desperately need help. They lack shelter, food, medicine and clean water. They are urgently in need of shelter, food and cooking utensils,” he said.

The displacement of people follows last month’s clashes between government forces and the non-signatories to the revitalized peace agreement in Rasol payam, according to Mullia.

Separately, the local official confirmed that at least 60 civilians were recently abducted by unknown gunmen in the area.
