At least 195 students graduated from the Yambio Health Science Institute in Western Equatoria State on Wednesday.
The students were awarded diplomas in clinical medicine, public health, medical laboratory technology, and nursing and midwifery.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony the principal of the institute Mr. Filbert Victor called on the graduates to follow the ethics of their profession while offering services to the community.
Albert said some of the graduates are already working in some health facilities across the state.
“We have a lot of achievement as you can see before you are the graduates and also they are already working as the health workers of this state,” Albert said.
Meanwhile, Western Equatoria State Governor Alfred Futuyo Karaba pledged to support the graduates by creating jobs in the health sector.
“What have we graduated those doctors to do? If you sharpen the knife without doing something with it, then it will wound you, you who have graduated we will pay you. Last time I promised teachers a 10,000 SSP salary yet I had no money but God brought it. This time we shall pay you 20,000 SSP monthly,” Futuyo promised.
“If you are deploying those people in health facilities come to me so that we arrange for their transport especially those in far areas like Nadiangere”, he added.
This is the first graduation by the health institute since its initiation in 2016.
