Three trucks carrying more than 100 Necessary Unified Forces arrived in the Western Bahr el Ghazal State capital Wau from Western Equatoria State on Monday morning for deployment.

Fifth Division Commander Major General Dau Aturjong welcomed the soldiers at the eastern bank of Jur River before addressing them at the SSPDF’s Division headquarters in Grinti outside Wau.

“Those who have arrived are from the first batch of the unified forces because there are two batches,” he said. “I welcome all of them because they are the forces of this country and they have a big role to play for the nation and this is why I welcomed them from the eastern bank.”

The group of unified forces is under the command of Thomas Sabuni Selah who appreciated the warm reception by the people of the state lined along the road to witness their arrival.

“My name is Col. Thomas Sabuni Selah and I am from Western Equatoria. Based on the provisions of the peace agreement, I was sent from Maridi to Juba and ordered from there with the troops of the third contingent to report to Wau,” he explained. “I am now very happy because we were very warmly welcomed and the citizens are happy. This signifies unity and peace.”

Last week, unified forces from Western and Northern Bahr el Ghazal states were dispatched to Juba for deployment.
