At least 107 herds of cattle were killed after a boat capsized along the River Nile in Bor County of Jonglei State on Saturday, a local official said.
Elijah Thongbor, the secretary-general for Jonglei Boats Union, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the incident occurred when the boat capsized after it collided with another boat carrying goods in the Malualchat area along the river.
“A boat carrying goods to Bor collided with another boat transporting 250 cows to Juba at Malualchat area. As a result, only 143 cows were rescued, the rest drowned. No one was hurt in the incident, and there was no damage on the other boat,” he said.
