Over 10,000 children out of school on Nile’s rebel-held west bank

Albino Achut a member of SPLM-IO said over 10,000 children in rebel-held area in Fashoda county of Upper Nile state are out of school, calling on NGOs to assist them in opening schools.

Achut told Radio Tamazuj the area is hosting more than 45,000 people who are in need of humanitarian assistance.

“More than 10,000 children are out of school, we are trying to open schools for them,” he said. “We are calling of NGOs to support the education sector in the state.”

He said the World Food Programme has distributed food to people affected by hunger but it was not enough.

He called on the NGOs working in the education sector to assist them in opening schools for the children.
