A source, who preferred anonymity, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that at least two officers have been arrested in connection with the scandal, adding that another suspect is still at large.

The mining society had received a loan from Sudan’s Central Bank to buy machines needed for mining at Balgo south of Roseires town.

Multiple sources in the state government have accused top officials in the government of encouraging corruption and supporting individuals who are behind the move.

They said similar reports indicate that more than 6 million Sudanese Pounds also went missing from the agriculture society in Blue Nile last year.
