Opposition party calls on govt, rebels to stop war in Blue Nile

The Popular Congress Party (PCP) in Sudan’s Blue Nile state has called on the Sudanese government and the SPLA-North rebels to stop fighting in the area.

The Popular Congress Party (PCP) in Sudan’s Blue Nile state has called on the Sudanese government and the SPLA-North rebels to stop fighting in the area.

Idris al-Bilal, the secretary general of the Popular Congress Party in Blue Nile said the state need peace due to the deteriorating living condition.

“We are in dire need of peace in Blue Nile state. The current situation in the state is very bad from economic to security and everything,” al-Bilal said.

He added in an interview with Radio Tamazuj Monday that the political work in the state is dominated by the ruling National Congress Party (NCP).

“All the political activities in the state is strictly run by the National Congress Party. It is the only political party that is running its political activities in Blue Nile state,” he said.

He pointed out that other political parties have been denied to hold any political event in and outside the state due to the state of emergency.

Al-Bilal stressed that the roadmap signed by the government in Addis Ababa recently and rejected by the SPLM-N is not sacred, calling on the government to let their party review the roadmap.

He also called on the government to not discriminate between the political parties in the state.
