Opposition in Bieh declares three-day mourning over governor’s death

The rebel-appointed deputy governor of Bieh State Simon Hoth Duol has announced a three-day mourning period in honour of the governor, Koang Rambang Chol.

The rebel-appointed deputy governor of Bieh State Simon Hoth Duol has announced a three-day mourning period in honour of the governor, Koang Rambang Chol.

Gen. Rambang died on Sunday in Lankien.

A statement by the top opposition official in Bieh said the mourning period starts from 24 to 27 June.

Mr Duol described the death as a tragic loss for the family and the rebel group, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-In-Opposition (SPLM-IO).

 “On behalf of citizens of Bieh state at home, Diaspora, the state leadership and my own behalf, I am sending my sincere condolences to the family of late Koang Rambang Chol, Bieh state governor,” he wrote.

Late Rambang was born in 1978 in Akobo.
