The rebel appointed governor of South Sudan’s Fashoda state, Lt. Gen. Johnson Olony Thubo, on Monday dissolved the cabinet and removed all advisers and county commissioners in areas under his control.
Just four days after taking power in Fashoda, opposition governor Olony has dismissed the cabinet appointed by former governor Maj. Gen. Jokuino Fidel Nyikayo.
Olony sacked the deputy governor Johnson Oman Yor and secretary general Peter Tipo. The order affected Kwofer Edward Amum, political adviser, Salah Ajak, religious affairs adviser, Johnson Omot, economic affairs adviser, Adwork Arop Ajak, adviser on services and Augustino Obeny, adviser on cultural affairs as well as John Pagan Lual, secretary of mobilization.
The new governor also removed information secretary, Moses Samuel Oraj, secretary of finance, Taban James, secretary of education, Nyidhok Ochol Nyidhok, secretary of health, Bupuch Kur Papit, secretary of agriculture, Ibrahim Al-Nur Ismail, secretary of physical infrastructure, Daniel Chugo Obul, and secretary of gender, Victoria Arop.
General Olony also dismissed the supervisor of Panyikang, Pasquale John Nyikuac, Makal supervisor, Stephen Aban Kwathi, Manyo supervisor, Peter Awon Odhong, Pigi supervisor, James Odhok Oyay and Fashoda supervisor, Peter Juotho Yor.
Lieutenant-General Johnson Olony, who commands the Aguelek forces of the Shilluk Kingdom in Upper Nile State, was appointed as the governor of Fashoda state by opposition leader Riek Machar last Thursday.
