An alliance of Sudanese opposition political parties and civil society organizations on Saturday signed a new initiative to unify the political parties.
The coalition adopted a regulatory mechanism named by the Liberal Democratic Union Party (LDUP) as “Sudan Tomorrow”.
The document which contains 21 items talks about national unity, sovereignty, transparency and credibility, as well as objectivity in dealing with citizens.
The document also called for an end to the ongoing war so that a just and lasting peace is achieved, besides the establishment of social peace in Sudan, in addition to giving the highest priority to the resettlement of IDPs and returnees as well as the reconstruction of the war-affected areas.
Speaking in a news conference on Saturday, head of the LDUP Party Mayada Swar Al Dahab said the country’s problems will be solved through dialogue only and agreement of political parties on national issues far away from narrow partisan interests.
She stressed the urgent need for initiating political alliances and agreement on a roadmap on the basis of a clear strategy. The party leader pointed out that the opposition parties want to address the root causes of the crisis in Sudan in a holistic approach.
Swar Al Dahab said that the initiative will proceed without excluding anyone.
