South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), a group of nine opposition entities, said it has presented its reservations about the revised post-Entebbe peace proposal on Tuesday.

The group rejected the peace plan presented by Khartoum on Monday, saying it failed to address the root causes of the conflict.

Gen.Hussein Abdelbagi, a leading member of the opposition alliance, told Radio Tamazuj that they have already submitted their comments on the draft agreement.

“The peace proposal has actually addressed some of the issues, but some of the provisions are not clear. So we do not want to allow any loophole in the agreement because it will return us to war if there is a loophole,” Hussein said.

The top opposition general further said they will sign a peace deal if their concerns are addressed by the mediation team.

Hussein stressed that the people of South Sudan demand for federal governance, a system in which sovereign powers are divided between federal and state governments.

“The proposal declined to mention federalism. We want it to appear in the peace proposal because our states need to be given more powers and resources for development,” he said.
