A large number of citizens responded to Sudan’s second civil disobedience on Monday with divergent views on whether the day was successful or not.
The civil disobedience came in response to the austerity measures introduced by the government and the ensuing price hikes across the country.
Several activists told Radio Tamazuj that the second civil disobedience was 50% successful, while supporters of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) believe that the civil disobedience failed to achieve its objective.
The activists accused the government of forcing its supporters, students and government employees to go about their normal businesses in an attempt to fail the civil disobedience. They claimed that the government arrested several opposition figures and activists.
Meanwhile, multiple sources said that many people responded to the calls for civil disobedience in Nyala town where shops remained closed since morning.
