One street child was killed when a fight broke out among homeless children at the market in the town of Wau in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state yesterday, according to the mayor.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, the mayor of Wau town Arkanjelo Anyar Anyar said a quarrel erupted between street children causing the death of one of them.
He noted that during the fighting a young boy was hit in the head and died on the spot, but the police have been able to arrest the perpetrator, who will be investigated.
The official expressed concern about the increasing number of street children, especially adolescents, saying over 1,000 children are reported homeless in the town.
