One person killed, others wounded by raiders in Makuac Payam, Jonglei

One person has been killed and others wounded followed an attack by an unknown armed group in Makuac Payam in Bor County on Monday evening.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Jodi Jonglei, Minister of Information of Jonglei State, confirmed the killing of a citizen and wounding of several others in the county.

He said the incident occurred when a group of cattle raiders came and attacked citizens in Makuac Payam on Monday.

Jonglei, who is also the state government’s spokesman, pointed out that the police authorities couldn’t trace the perpetrators.

The official expressed concern about the surging crimes of cattle raiding in the state.

In early February, at least five people were killed and others wounded by cattle raiders in Jalle Payam in Bor County. Homes were reportedly burnt down and about 3000 cows were raided.
