At least one person was killed and 200 cattle were stolen in clashes between local armed groups near the United Nations base in Bentiu and houses belong to aid workers and citizens were destroyed.
State minister of information Lam Tungwar Kueigwong told Radio Tamazuj the situation in Bentiu is not stable especially during night time due to the presence of many armed groups who come from outside the town.
He said the area has witnessed clashes between armed groups in the recent days up to Wednesday near the UN camp in which one person was killed and 200 cattle were stolen.
“Around 2:00 am armed group attacked a cattle camp, killed one person and stolen 200 cattle. Those criminals are coming from outside the town,” said Tungwar.
Tungwar said the armed groups were criminals who do not belong to the armed opposition, adding that the government is doing what it can to arrest them.
