Aircrafts belonging to the Sudanese government dropped bombs at Deliba area in Raja County of Western Bahr al Ghazal of South Sudan on Monday, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Raja County Commissioner James Benjamin said the bombing resulted in the killing of one person and wounding of five others including a child in critical condition.
Benjamin further said the Sudanese aircraft dropped about 17 bombs on the Deliba area. He pointed out that the wounded were taken to Raja Hospital for treatment.
This incident came after the visit by a South Sudanese delegation headed by Vice President James Wani Igga to Khartoum to witness a signing ceremony of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project.
Meanwhile, Mayan Dut Wol, South Sudan’s Ambassador in Khartoum said joint meetings were held between Sudan and South Sudan on the sidelines of the signing ceremony.
He further said the meetings included Sudan’s First Vice President Bakri Hassan Saleh and his South Sudanese counterpart James Wani Igga.
Mayan pointed out that the meetings focused on the reactivation of the Cooperation Agreement signed in September 2012.
Sudanese defence minister and members of the joint technical committee will visit Juba soon so that the talks are resumed in order to reach a comprehensive settlement between the two countries, according to the South Sudanese diplomat.
