One of South Darfur’s ‘most dangerous men’ apprehended

The police in Kass locality in South Darfur report that they apprehended “one of the most dangerous offenders in the state” on Thursday.

The man, nicknamed Kao Kao, but whose full name was not released, is reportedly a former member of the Popular Police Forces who was dismissed in 2001. He is wanted on 80 counts of rape, 35 cases of homicide as well as 18 cases of robbery and theft.

A police source told Radio Dabanga that they carried out the arrest after raiding a house in the Dibebah district in the west of Kass city.

They discovered the suspect’s whereabouts after a tip-off from a woman from the district.

The source said that considering the dangerous nature of the alleged criminal, Kao Kao was immediately transferred from Kass to the state capital Nyala.
