One person was killed, three others wounded and three children abducted in two separate attacks in Nyirol County of Jonglei State on Saturday, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Daniel Both, the Secretary General of the defunct Bieh State said the incident occurred when an armed group attacked Panyim and Dakriang villages near Waat town.
“Criminals from Greater Pibor attacked Panyim area and torched six huts. They also abducted three children, killed an old woman and wounded another person. 15 sheep were burnt in one hut and eight cows were taken away by the attackers,” Both explained.
He added, “In another incident in Dakriang area, the armed attackers also wounded one person,” he added.
Local authorities in the greater Pibor area could not easily be reached for comment.
