At least one person was killed and one other sustained minor injuries on Saturday when armed youth attacked Warthiang village in Palooch County of Western Lakes State.
James Dhieu Mading, Palooc County Commissioner confirmed to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that an old man was killed and a young man wounded during the attack. He noted that the attackers also made away with 25 heads of cattle which have not been recovered.
Dhieu said the attackers are suspected to be local youths from Pakam clan in Western Lakes State who have defied an on-going disarmament exercise there and went to hide in Eastern Lakes State.
The local authority urged the neighbouring Eastern Lakes State authorities to collaborate with his state authorities on disarmament issues so as to reduce cross-border attacks and theft and reduce the illegal possession of arms within the civilian population.
