Authorities of Tonj East County say one person was shot and killed by armed attackers in former Ngapagok County in the early hours of Friday.

The person identified as Matoch Dongrin was traveling with his cattle from Palal locality in Luack Koth via Akook Deng Achuil area to his home area in Luach Jang when he met his demise.

According to Executive Director of Luach Jang Centre, Makuei Mabior, the late's cattle were stolen but later recovered.

"There was information that some criminals killed one person along the way. He was from Palal with his cattle coming to Luach Jang because he is from Luach Jang here. After arriving at a place called Payier he met with some gunmen who killed him. His cattle were stolen but they have been recovered from the hands of these criminals and they are now with authorities in Ngapagok Payam," he added.

The assistant Executive Director of Ngapagok, Mathiang Ben, confirmed the killing.

"The authorities went after the criminal but they only recovered cattle which are now with me here," he said.

By the time he spoke to Radio Tamazuj this afternoon, Mathiang said he was meeting with chiefs about the matter.

He appealed to relatives of the late Matoch Dongrin to restrain and allow the police to investigate the motive and identify the killers.
