One person was killed and another injured in a cattle raid in Jonglei State’s Duk County last Thursday, a local official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj last Friday, Ayom Akuoc, the executive director of the county said the incident occurred when an armed group attacked Werashu cattle camp in Duk Padiet area.

He pointed out that 100 head of cattle raided during the incident were later recovered by local youth after clashes.

Ayom blamed the attack on armed youth from Fangak area, but said the situation was stable, despite the incident.

Local authorities in Fangak area could not immediately be reached for comment.
