One person was killed and four others sustained injures following a misunderstanding between youth at a traditional dancing ground in Haforiere Village of Torit East County on Friday night.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, the Boma chief, Michael Mujang Obel said a young man identified as Sebit Amanya Ohirai was shot and killed by a man called Abondio Onongo Omiyang at the dancing ground. He added that Adondio also sustained injuries during fighting.

Mujang said it was unclear why the two young men fought.

Mujang further said Alex Ohura, a brother to the late Sebit, went and attacked Adondio’s family home where he injured four people.

He pointed out that the injured are receiving treatment at Torit hospital.

For his part, the state police spokesman, Lt Col Mathew Ochan Jacob said too much consumption of alcohol triggered the incident. He further said investigations into the incident are underway.

Torit East County police commissioner, Toby Majak Thomas condemned the incident and advised the youth to distance themselves from criminal activities.

He said, “A child who does not listen to advices will definitely fall into problems”.
