At least one person was killed and five others were injured in a cattle raid in Pakir area in South Sudan’s Jonglei State earlier this week.
In statement to Radio Tamazuj, Commissioner of Twic East County Dau Akuei Jurkuch said gunmen attacked a cattle camp Saturday night and raided 19 cattle and 38 goats.
“Some criminals attacked a cattle camp in Pakir area on Saturday night and stolen 19 cattle. They also attacked another cattle camp and raided about 38 goats,” he said.
“On Sunday morning youth from the area followed them and managed to recover the 38 goats and during their clashes with those criminals one person was killed from the attackers’ side and five others were injured from the pastoralists.”
