Authorities in Twic Centre county of South Sudan’s Jongei State say one person was killed and more than 200 livestock raided on Monday evening.

Dau Akoi Jurkuch, the county commissioner told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that an armed group attacked three villages in his county killing and looting.

“Armed men came from neighbouring Boma state and attacked us at Patiang but were repulsed, they then attacked Fakau, killed one person and stole 174 heads of cattle and in Fawei they stole 63 goats,” he added.

Akuei explained that due to the frequency of the attacks many people have relocated their families and cattle for security reasons, but he assured that police in the area are doing their best to protect people’s lives and property.
