One person was killed and another wounded in two separate incidents in South Sudan’s Unity State on Wednesday, a local official said.

Lam Tungwar, Minister of Information in the proposed Northern Liech State, told Radio Tamazuj that an armed group came and attacked Tamer area near Mayom County, saying the incident resulted in the wounding of a woman.

The local official pointed out that the attackers took 12 head of cattle. Tungwar accused SPLA-IO forces of involvement in the incident.

“The attack took place around 1:00 am by members of the SPLA-IO, in the incident a lady was shot and those people took about 12 cows, so this is what happened “said Lam.

But Radio Tamazuj couldn’t reach SPLA-IO military officers in the area to comment on the matter.

Separately, Lam Tungwar said a citizen was killed by an armed group in the vicinity of the UN camp in Bentiu town on Wednesday.

“Another incident happened also, some criminals inside the UN base used to leave their guns outside, so yesterday they attacked and killed one person at the gate of the UN camp,” he said.

The minister explained that unknown gunmen have been threatening the security of people between Rubkona and the UN camp in the north of Bentiu town.
