A group of armed men on Wednesday attacked a cattle camp in Logiri Village of Torit County, killing one person.
Torit county commissioner Fermo Peter Isara told Radio Tamazuj that one person was injured during the attack by seven people.
“The same bullet injured these people. It killed that one and injured the other one. The injured one was brought to the hospital and I went to see him. He is feeling fine his leg is not broken. The one who died has been buried in Logiri there his name is Vitale,” he said.
Peter said the soldiers and youth in Logiri followed the attackers and traced the footprints to Pacidi Village of Lafon County.
Commissioner Fermo called on the youth to remain calm and restrain from revenge attack saying the government will communicate soon.
He says tensions between Logiri and Pacidi communities remains high as government plans a process of dialogue.
Meanwhile, the governor of Torit State Tobiolo Alberio Oromo on Wednesday while in Juba appealed to the presidency to intervene and help to address the communal conflict between the Logiri and Pari communities as they mobilize for more aggression.
Alberio said the forces on the ground cannot be able to contain the imminent attack and asked for reinforcement to avoid a bloody clash.
Last month the two communities clashed during a meeting to resolve continuous cattle raids and other criminal activities among them that left 20 people dead.
Lafon County officials could not be reached for comment due to lack of network.
