One killed, another injured in cattle raid in Abyei

At least one person was killed and another has been injured Monday morning in clashes between cattle raiders and pastoralists in Wang Thou of the disputed area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Commissioner of Alel County, Kelek Kon Lual, said cattle raiders have attacked pastoralists coming from Twic and tried to steal their cattle.

“Around 3:00 a.m in the morning cattle raiders stole about 200 cattle. They clashed with the cattle owners and one person was killed and another was injured,” he said.

Kelek added that the pastoralists managed to recover 200 stolen cattle from the raiders.

The commissioner also accused militias from Sudan of being behind the attack.
