One dead, 5 wounded in revenge attacks in Rumbek Central

At least one person was killed and five wounded in intercommunal revenge attacks between Gak and Akorkor in Cuei-adukan village of Rumbek Central County on Wednesday night.

At least one person was killed and five wounded in intercommunal revenge attacks between Gak and Akorkor in Cuei-adukan village of Rumbek Central County on Wednesday night.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the police chief inspector of Rumbek Central County Samuel Madol Akec Gor said the late Majur Mabeny Dhuol's body was retrieved from the scene of the fighting today morning by security forces.

"Now, the team which was sent to the area brought one dead body of the person who has been killed," said Madol.

Gor said more they await more details about the incident in Cuei-adukan village.

The sub-chief of the Akorkor section of the Pakam community, Marial Dhiath confirmed the incident and accused armed youth from the Gak or Manuer section of Pakam of initiating the clashes.

According to Dhiath, the late and others were sleeping when their house was set ablaze before they were shot at.

He said two of the wounded are in critical condition while three sustained minor injuries.
