President Omar al-Bashir will visit the capital of South Sudan on Tuesday, according to sources in both Juba and Khartoum.
Preparations for his visit are going well, according to South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Mawien Makol.
Makol told Radio Tamazuj that bilateral relations between the two countries are presently good, adding that Abyei will be among the issues on the table at talks between Bashir and his counterpart Salva Kiir.
According to Sudan’s state news agency, SUNA, Bashir will be accompanied by a number of members of his cabinet including Minister at the Presidency Bakri Hassan Salih, Foreign Minister Ali Karti, Interior Minister Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, Director of Security and Intelligence Gen. Mohamed Atta, Minister of Petroleum Awad Ahmed al-Jaz, Minister of Trade Osman Omer al-Sharif, and Federal Government Minister Hassabu Mohamed Abdul-Rahman.
Also participating will be Sudan’s chief negotiator with South Sudan, Idris Mohamed Abdul-Gadir, the State Minister at the Ministry of Finance Majdi Hassan Yassin, Central Bank Deputy Governor Badr-Eddin Mahmoud, the Petroleum Ministry Undersecretary Awadal-Karim Mohamed Khair, and NCP external relations secretary Ibrahim Ghandour.
