Oil security mechanism to be set up in Sudan’s East Darfur

The Sudanese Petroleum Minister, Makawi Mohamed Awad announced that he intends to implement a mechanism to secure the oil fields and the companies operating in East Darfur State.

The Sudanese Petroleum Minister, Makawi Mohamed Awad announced that he intends to implement a mechanism to secure the oil fields and the companies operating in East Darfur State.

This comes after a meeting with East Darfur governor, El Tayeb Abdel Karim.

The minister emphasized social peace and reconciliation among the tribes in the state as a necessity for sustainability of oil production and the operating companies. 

For his part, the governor vowed to secure the oil installations and give room for new explorations. He also emphasised the importance of oil resource in development and provision of essential services in the state.

The development of social peace will definitely create a favourable environment for oil production, according to the official.
