Authorities in Uror County of Jonglei State said an investigation has been launched into the murder of a policeman over the weekend.
Machot Gatluak Kenyjak, the Uror County commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj that the slain officer, Corporal Gatwec Tut Bol, was on his way to Duk County when he met his fate at the Patuet area last Thursday.
“The deceased wanted to visit his relative in Duk when he was ambushed and killed on a road at Patuet village,” he said. “No suspect has been arrested or known. We are investigating the incident.”
The commissioner condemned the killing which he said could have been carried out by cattle raiders.
Jonglei Police Spokesperson Major Majak Daniel Tuor said he has yet to receive details into the incident.
