The deputy governor of Twic state Atem Madut Yak met with officials from the United Nations Mission in South Sudan in Kuacjok town to discuss preparations for a conference to be held at Ajak Kuac.

The conference is expected to take place this month to discuss cattle theft, problems facing communities, and security along borders with neighboring states.

Twic state was carved out of Warrap state by President Salva Kiir’s unilateral decree to split South Sudan into 28 states.

The Twic community has since been divided over where the state’s capital should be in Turalei or Mayen Abun.
