Another official has left South Sudan’s Ministry of Information over alleged discrimination practiced within the institution.
Clement Aturjong Kuot, deputy director for the government website, said he was vacating his post due to what he called nepotism in hiring practices by minister Michael Makuei Lueth. Aturjong also said the ministry was corrupt.
The ex-official accused Makuei of making appointments based on other considerations rather than merit, particularly in the case of newly appointed undersecretary Jacob Aleer. Aturjong said that Aleer is not a journalist and therefore unqualified to hold the post.
Earlier this year former director of SSTV Khamis Abdel-Latif left the ministry and fled the country after accusing Makuei of being “a tribal and racist man.”
