Foreigners traveling to South Sudan without a Yellow Fever card should not be allowed to enter the country, a South Sudanese government official warned.“The cabinet listened to the Minister of Health about the health situation in the country”, Minister of Information and Government Spokesperson Michael Makuei said at a press conference.
“It is reported that there is an outbreak of yellow fever in the neighboring country and for us as country we need to take necessary precaution in order to protect ourselves,” Makuei said.
South Sudan is at high risk of the spread of the virus, according to Makuei.
“Nobody will be allowed to enter South Sudan along or all the entering points without a yellow fever card. In additional to that any yellow fever (cases) that are seems anywhere must be reported to nearest hospital in South Sudan”, Makuei said.
Makuei said there are no reported cases of yellow fever in the country, but because of the outbreak in neighboring countries, precautions must be taken.
