The Commissioner of Mvolo County in South Sudan’s Western Equatoria State says a strike of health workers in health centers in the area has led to a deteriorating health situation.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on the regular programme ‘With the Commissioners’, Commissioner Denis Abdalla said children are suffering from malaria due to closure of health centers in the area following the strike of health workers.
“The health situation in the area is very deteriorating due to shortages of drug in the hospitals,” said Abdalla. He said that some children have died due to closure of these health centers and shortages of drugs.
Abdalla said health workers working with an NGO in the area have staged a strike protesting their payment in local currency and demanding their salary to be paid in dollar.
