Official: Families return to Mangalla after shooting

The commissioner of Mangalla County in Central Equatoria Ilario Pataki said Thursday that over 300 families are in need of humanitarian assistance following the 7 May incident in the area.

The commissioner of Mangalla County in Central Equatoria Ilario Pataki said Thursday that over 300 families are in need of humanitarian assistance following the 7 May incident in the area.

Pataki said the urgent needed help is food and medicine adding that the people have now returned back to Mangalla center. He pointed that the situation is now normal calling on other residents who might have not returned to come back home.

“I want my people to return home to start normal life. Then on Monday the schools will start, they shouldn’t stay outside the area.” he said

The commissioner said markets have reopened for business as usual. He added that since 9 May the displaced received food including 100 bags of flour, 100 bags of rice and cooking oil donated by the state government brought from the market in Juba.

The commissioner urged humanitarian agencies to help his people adding that some houses and shops were looted during the clashes leaving others vulnerable.
