A policeman was reported killed and six wounded in an attack on a police post in Abu Karshola in Sudan’s South Kordofan State this week.

The killed officer is a sergeant identified as Tijani Al Gum. Some of the wounded sustained serious injuries.

A source told Radio Tamazuj the attack took place after police arrested a man for murder, prompting his comrades to storm the police station.

The incident reportedly caused tensions between police elements and relatives of the perpetrators.

Radio Tamazuj couldn’t reach government officials in the area to comment on the incident.
