A leading civil society organization in South Sudan said the parties which participated in the recent consultations in Addis Ababa failed to make compromises.
Edmund Yakani, The Executive Director of the Community Empowerment Progress Organization (CEPO), told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the government and the opposition did not make any compromises on contentious issues during the recent intensive consultations.
Activist, who was also part of the consultations, said the South Sudan warring parties focused on securing positions instead of making compromises for the sake of peace in the country.
Yakani pointed out that the existence of more groups at the negotiating table could complicate the peace process.
The rights defender suggested that the opposition groups should be united under one umbrella so that peace can be achieved in the next round of the talks.
