The El Obeid-Kadugli road in Sudan’s South Kordofan state has been reopened after it was cut off by flooding following six hours of heavy rains.

In a press statement to Sudan News Agency (SUNA) Sunday, El Goz Locality Commissioner Abu Baker Khalifa said the road has been reopened.

He commended the quick response by a Chinese company operating along Dababat-El Fula road in repairing the road.

Khalifa said the emergency teams and citizens in the state exerted great efforts in reducing water damage.

He called on local citizens to stay away from swampy areas and low-lying lands as a precautionary measure.
