Multiple eyewitnesses told Radio Tamazuj that Nyala University students had demonstrated against the current government and called for regime change.

They said police fired live bullets and tear gas at protesters along the Cinema Street, with many students were reportedly injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

Sources indicated that an unconfirmed number of students was arrested by security agents who chased the pupils through the town yesterday.

Police forces have stationed themselves outside the university gate, according to the same eyewitnesses. Police authorities have not yet commented on the matter.
