Renewed clashes between two clans within the same South Sudanese tribe resulted in a tribal chief and another person being killed in Kukuma refugee camp in Kenya on Friday.

Both clans are part of the Nuer tribe.

Rok Mathiang, a religious leader at Lutheran Church, told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that renewed clashes broke out between members of the Bul and Dok Nuer at Kukuma Refugee camp.

He pointed out that a traditional leader from Dok called Gom Mathiang and another young man identified as Yaap Duop Chany were killed.

“The two people were killed from the side of Dok community on Friday,” Mathiang.

He pointed out that that the fight between the two communities erupted when young boys from the two clans fought during a football match in the camp recently.

The religious leader said the issue is being handed by Kenyan police.
