A source told Radio Tamazuj that National Security officers raided the office of Jonglei Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development (JIPDD) and interrupted the civil society group’s voting for leadership positions.

He further said National Security Service (NSS) arrested 20 people including a journalist covering the occasion. He identified the arrested journalist as Mach Samuel.

“National Security Service personnel came with a pickup car and arrested all members of the civil society organization. They have been taken to an unknown place,” he said.

“They just asked all the participants to get out of the office. They took their phones and asked them to get into the car. When they were asked about the reason, they refused to talk,” he added.
