NRC donates 4 motorbikes in Warrap State

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has donated four Yamaha motorbikes to the ministry of agriculture for the greater Warrap State to facilitate the activities of a programme for rural development. 

The initiative called SORUDEV or South Sudan Rural Development is funded by the Europeans Union through NRC’s food security project

An official from NRC who spoke during the handing over ceremony was quoted by local media in Warrap saying that the equipment will be used to facilitate the movements of agricultural extension officers in four counties including Tonj South, Twic, Gogrial East and Gogrial West.

“The main aim of these donations of four motor bikes is to strengthen and support small-scale farmers in the state and I hope these motor bikes will facilitate movements of officers to reach local farmers without difficulties and you can used them for other purposes here in the ministry as well,” said the NRC official. 

The director general in the Ministry of Agriculture Martin Madut Chan who received the equipment on behalf of the minister has acknowledged the assistance NRC rendered to his ministry. He pointed out that the equipment will not be use for different purposed other than monitoring rural agriculture farm fields activities. 

“The donation of four motor bikes to the ministry today by NRC is not the first time. We received an assistance of this kind from NRC but the ministry have received the same kind in 2015 for implementation of SORUDEV programme. And as such I once again thanked and appreciate NRC for their continued support it has rendered to the ministry,” said Madut. 

“I would also like to assured our donor that is EU and NRC that the addition of transportation equipment that we received today will not be used for any other purposes but for the purposes of the implementation of SORUDEV programme in order to achieved the targeted results in greater Warrap state.”
