One thousand seeds have been distributed to the residents of Kuajok town this week by the Norwegian Refugee Council.
The project aims to provide agricultural subsidence and keep civilians aware of the importance of trees.
“These trees will help you to fight food insecurity, earn incomes and dependency on charcoal burning as also affects our forests” an officer from NRC said.
One woman who received trees applauded the effort, and acknowledged that the trees are of great help to her.
“I want to tell my friends to take good care of them because these trees are going change our lives in many ways. Trees can act as winds break, you can use them as your shades, eat their fruits and bring rains,” said Abuk Deng.
A recent drought in Gogrial state forced many trees to be cut down for charcoal.
Last month, NRC also donated four motorbikes to the ministry of agriculture.
