Not enough shelter for Blue Nile refugees at Bambasi camp

Blue Nile refugees living in Bambasi camp in Ethiopia are still complaining about shortages of food and shelter.

Blue Nile refugees living in Bambasi camp in Ethiopia are still complaining about shortages of food and shelter.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, several refugees said there is a delay in the distribution of food rations being given to them by humanitarian organizations.

The refugees said many families were living in open areas due to the lack of shelter after their houses collapsed.

“We don’t know what is going on here. All the houses are about to collapse because nobody built any new house in the camp during the last four years,” one refugee said.

They accused the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) of ignoring their calls on the matter as the rainy season is approaching.

One of the native administration leaders said the UNHCR informed them clearly that the donors haven’t yet fulfilled their pledges to renovate the houses.

However, the refugees said there are still calling upon the UN agency to provide them with shelter and plastic sheets.
