Northern Upper Nile's health ministry on Wednesday launched a seven-day polio vaccination campaign targeting over 70,000 children below the age of five in parts of the state.
Director General Kur Arop Jalduong, who launched the exercise in Renk, said the campaign will be conducted to ensure children are protected against the deadly disease in parts of the state.
He said vaccination teams will move from house to house to vaccinate all children under five years and designated some areas, pointing to logistical challenges in covering the whole state.
Jalduong revealed that the teams have not yet started the vaccination campaign in Maban and Melut due to logistical challenges.
The African Vaccination Week, which targets children under the age of five, was launched in the nation’s capital Juba earlier this week.
