The State Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries in Aweil has announced its readiness to vaccinate border communities’ cattle including those of migrant Arabs who enter seasonally from Darfur.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj today, the Acting Director for Animal Resources and Fisheries Peter Jok confirmed the arrival of Arab cattle in the far north of Aweil North County, adding that the ministry is committed to send a team to vaccinate flocks belonging to Arab herders.

“Arabs migrate into Aweil North especially in Mayom Anyok especially where they are now based and we are preparing vaccination for them. But the vaccinations are now in Dinka areas. We are now vaccinating in Mayom Adhal and Gok Machar itself for Dinkas,” he said.

“The number vaccinated is almost 13,980 from December to January and vaccination is still going on in these locations.”
