The governor of South Sudan’s Gogrial state, Gregory Deng Kuac, said the security force that was approved by the national government to be deployed in Gogrial has not yet arrived.
In early June, South Sudan government announced a plan to deploy a security force in the strife-torn state of Gogrial to patrol buffer zones and defuse tensions between rival communities of Aguok and Apuk.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Governor Gregory said the government force has not yet arrived in the state. The state official denied reports that he refused to participate in the Gogrial community meeting in which President Kiir ordered the deployment of troops to provide security in Gogrial state.
Gregory claimed that he didn’t receive any invitation from the office of the president to attend the community meeting in Juba.
